NEW YORK, New York, December 26, 2008--The Taiwan Fund, Inc. (NYSE: TWN) confirms the amount of the previously announced distribution of $0.17019 per share comprised entirely of net investment income. The dividend will be payable on January 7, 2009, to the stockholders of record at the close of business on December 30, 2008.

The Fund is a closed-end management investment company seeking long-term capital appreciation primarily through investment in the equity securities listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
